Musical skills advancement on behalf of younger children within musical classes

The diploma thesis deals with the specifics of musical development of younger children and didactic application of musical activities within the music education club. A child of younger age is defined as a child aged from 5 to 8 years. The aim of this thesis is to offer a theme for pedagogical practice, to summarize and verify selected conditions for quality music teaching. The theoretical part summarizes the current knowledge about the psychological and musical development of young children. The focus in musical development is on preschool and younger school age. It also summarises knowledge about musical skills and musical activities, i.e. singing, listening, instrumental and musical movement. This section concludes with a list of selected methodological materials for music teachers. Nine sample scenarios for music teaching are presented, which contain various activity themes and teaching materials for music club work. The scenarios are based on the author's own teaching practice. In the practical part of the thesis the proposed ideas and materials are tested in practice. They are supported by self-reflection, comments from the music teacher and feedback from the students. Conclusions are drawn for pedagogical work.
